Location

Helmsley is situated 25 miles north of York (on the A170), 14 miles from Thirsk and 16 miles from Malton. Follow the signposts from the Cleveland Way car park in Helmsley, located on the north side of the castle. There is free parking for coaches in Cleveland Way coach park.

 

Opening Times and Admission Fees 2009

  • 1st April to 31st October daily 10.30am to 5.00pm
  • Adults £4.00 Concessions £3.00 Children Free / Donations only November to March
  • 20% discount on the same day entry between either Duncombe Park or Helmsley Castle or Helmsley Walled Garden

 

Group bookings / Garden tours

Guided Tours are available, by prior booking, for groups who wish to visit the garden.  The garden tours begin with an introductory talk.  Light refreshments, if requested, are available, or alternatively visitors are welcome to bring a picnic.  Tours take approximately 1.5 hours (2hrs with refreshments), however, it is strongly recommended that you allow longer than this for your visit.  After the tour visitors are then free to spend further time in the garden if they wish. Special interest groups, for example art groups, are welcome. Dogs welcome too.

Two World Titles For Sleights Man

Paul Wheater of Sleights near Whitby has had a good start in the British Masters heavy athletic season. He competed in the World 56lbs championships at Derby on the 21tst April and won 3 gold and 4 silver medals, the Whitby Gazette reported.
