Levisham - Near Pickering

Levisham Near Pickering
Levisham is a simply stunning North Yorkshire Moors village set in a plateau between 2 valleys.
The only road in is via Lockton and it is very steep and twisting, but the scenery is simply breathtaking.
It's difficult to describe the descent into the valleys, Breathtaking, tinged with a slight caution as you drived deeper into the bowels of the valleys is probably the best way to describe it. You don't know if your driving into the lions den or going to end up in a sort of fantasy Harry Potter world of make believe unlike anything else you may experience.
La La Land Cattle
On the way down to La La Land you may see a staggered sentry of highland cattle gently munching away at the greenery. They are not what you expect to see driving down into a Yorkshire valley and for some reason, maybe 'cos they look a bit intimidating, the drive passed is slow and reverend like. One look and adorned with antlers the width of a 4 wheel drive (and that's just one), is enough to give these awesome creatures the respect they no doubt always command. But at the same time they are so fascinating they make you gawp and drive even slower. Are they real? Why are they staring? Are we lunch?
North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway
Levisham is also fvery popular for lovers of the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. Why not hop aboard with your dog and enjoy a chugg to Goathland, (Heartbeat's Aidensfield), or Pickering. Visit www.northyorkshiremoorsrailway.com for further information.
So, take your time. Stop for a picnic. Savour the smells, sound and stunning scenery and hold those memories and maybe use them when you need to de-stress at home.
