Happy New Year - Exciting News

Hello everyone. Happy New Year. Polly & me have got some exciting news but we can't tell you about it just yet.

It's top secret at the moment. We're keeping it under wraps for a little while longer, but we think you will love it, just as much as you love Whitby Dog Friendly Holidays.

We're always thinking up something new at headquarters. We like to keep on the ball, (or in my case, my red ball) and we love leading the way.

I always know when Polly's struck gold with ideas. We spend more time in Polly's think tank, (our conservatory), she sings more and Polly's designer must have, her camera, red, to match my ball, goes with her everywhere.

You won't be surpirsed to hear though, that Matt Damon, Polly's dream boat, had a bit of an unconscious influence on our little secret. No surprise there. But I am sort of warming to him a bit myself now cos I get more treats when Polly's excited.

Anyway, like all good ads, we've just given you a hint. It's sunny now and I can hear my lead jangling - we're off to Whitby beach. We'll keep you posted.

Dog beach ban begins

Scarborough Borough Council would like to remind dog owners that the seasonal restrictions allowing dogs on the main tourist beaches in the borough commences on Saturday 1 May.

The restrictions, which prohibit dogs from certain stretches of beaches starts this weekend and lasts throughout the summer season until 30 September and applies to the following areas of beach:

• In Filey from Royal Parade to the beach slipway which separates the Coble Landing from the Promenade.
• Scarborough's North Bay, from the northernmost beach slipway at the Sands development (former Corner Cafe) to the beach steps immediately to the south of the beach slipway at Scalby Mills.
• Scarborough's South Bay, from the West Pier to the southernmost flight of steps leading to the beach at the roundabout adjacent to the underground car park.
• Whitby's west beach from the West Pier to the east side of the beach steps, adjacent to the western end of the beach chalets.
• In Sandsend, from the steps below the public conveniences at Sandhills to the slipway at the southern end of Bank Bottom car park.

The above locations are clearly signed as dog ban areas and dog owners are reminded to avoid these areas from 1 May. All other beaches within the borough are available for the exercising of dogs during this period, although of course dog fouling - clean up - requirements apply to these areas.
